Foundation Continues Support of Crossroads with $10K Donation
Hanscom AFB, MA (August 14, 2020) – Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Hanscom Federal Credit Union, announced its continuing support for Crossroads, a youth empowerment program, by making a $10,000 donation. The Foundation has donated a total of $70,000 since 2014 to this organization.
Crossroads offers resources for economically disadvantaged youth from throughout eastern Massachusetts. Programs include residential summer camps as well as a year-round, multi-year program promoting leadership development, college and career success, and civic engagement.
This year, in the wake of COVID-19, Crossroads has innovated to both continue to provide leadership education for students and to keep them safe and physically distant from one another. This summer Crossroads has over 400 teens enrolled in their virtual “Leadership University,” which continues the work of their usual in-person programs of leadership development, social/emotional education, college and career exploration, and more.
“Programs provided by organizations like Crossroads are more important than ever,” said Paul Marotta, Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation’s chairman. “These kids are going through more this year than ever before, and they deserve to have the same educational opportunities and social support as the rest of their peers across the state. We’re proud to help keep them engaged and enriched, especially during such a challenging time.”
